In this blog post I'm going to share one of the most important pieces of advice that we can give you to help you to learn new movements as easily as possible. Here it is...

Every time you come to learn a new movement, that movement will initially appear to you like a black box. How to do it will be a mystery to you. That mystery can be so confronting that you might even give up trying to learn the movement. However if you persist, you will figure out how to do it, and it won't be a mystery any more.

With this is mind, the best thing that you can do when you're about to learn a new movement is to be prepared in advance for that mystery. It's not so much the mystery itself that puts people off, but the shock of encountering it and not being ready to persist through the uncertainty. Be ready to be confronted by the challenge and you'll be more likely to persist. Persist and you'll learn the movement!

So, next time you come to start learning a movement, say something like this to yourself...

"It's ok that I'm not initially going to feel like I can do this movement. If I keep at it I will get it. It might take a while, but I will get it!"

Cheers

Jack
