Balancing attention to detail and a relaxed attitude to training
Welcome to the weekly warble here at Ideanthro Movement.
This week I'd like to talk about something that can be hard to get right in your training (and in a gym more generally!), but when you do, good things happen!
What am I talking about?
I'm talking about finding the right balance between attention to detail in your training and also having a relaxed, fun loving attitude so that things are enjoyable. It's very much inspired by the video here showing Adrian describing a movement to our Saturday morning class last weekend. There's good detail being conveyed, but everyone is having a laugh at the same time.
Why is this important?
If you want to make progress in your training, particularly over the long term, attention to detail is required. We all start our training journey with strengths and weaknesses. We all have movement patterns that we're stronger in and those that we're weaker in. If we're going to address those, it requires attention to detail in how we move. But with too much attention to detail, things get serious, then perhaps a little robotic and boring.
And that's why this is important. Attention to detail to drive progress, but a relaxed and fun loving attitude creates an environment that you want to be in, so you keep at it over the long term.
If you'd like to know more about our approach you can contact us here.
Have a nice day!
Cheers
Jack
