3 reasons why you (an adult) should learn to handstand
Welcome to the weekly warble here at Ideanthro Movement.
This week I'm going to talk about how you (as an adult) might benefit from learning to handstand.
And thus of course, I am by default also discussing why we teach handstands to adults here at Ideanthro Movement.
1) The preparation for handstands develops great shoulder strength and mobility.
Handstanding well requires great shoulder mobility and strength. In the process of learning to handstand, we emphasise developing these attributes. If you're someone with tight or stiff shoulders, the exercises you will do while learning to handstand will likely help to reduce that stiffness.
2) It's a deep and engaging task you can sink your teeth into.
There are a lot of subtle nuances to handstanding. Without someone to guide you, this can make for a frustrating endeavour. But with a logical training approach, these nuances lead to an engaging and interesting learning process that makes handstanding borderline addictive.
3) Progress in handstanding delivers a great sense of achievement.
As with all challenging things, the sense of achievement is immense when you make progress in your handstand. That in itself is reason enough to learn.
As you can see, I'm pretty keen on handstanding!
If you'd like to learn, drop us a line and we'll show you how!
(And BTW, that's true no matter what your current fitness level is!)
Cheers
Jack
